Just Another Bird in the House
I finished recording this Railroad Earth cover moments before I was evacuated from, an subsequently lost, my home due to flood.

I Made a T-Shirt
Hey, you all* remember Ainsley McNeaney from a few posts ago? Well, she asked me to design a t-shirt for her to sell at an upcoming gig. The concept was "Woman with an Octopus Hat." So I drew this:

Best Playlist for Exercising
Zack and "I" are doing the Couch to 5k Program. I say "I" in quotations because... well, I can already run 5k, but whatever (though, seriously, I'm awesome). Unfortunately, Zack has needed a bit of... shall we say, inspiration to keep going. So after singing the Pokemon theme song for the first week and half (complete with guitar riffs), we created a playlist.

Best Songs About America
I'm not really sure how Zack got into the discussion, but it happened, and now you get to reap the benefits of it. A2Z with Ali and Zack presents to you: The Best Song Ever Written About America!
(Incredibly late for Independence Day, I guess...)
If you folks haven't guess yet, yes, I'm a huge fan of sketch comedy.

Episode Six of A2Z with Ali and Zack!
I've been very poor at posting on this blog, but that will change. Zack and I have figured out a schedule for posting which should guilt us into doing our job.
Podcast updates will be every Saturday.
Ali will blog on Mondays.
Zack will blog on Thursdays.
The last five podcasts can be found on this very crappy podcast blog.

Episode Six - One Hit Wonder Edition (LISTEN HERE)
Listen to Ali and Zack battle their favorite one hit wonders as if they were Pokemon!
Admitted Errors in this Podcast we are too lazy to fix:
- It’s Raining Men was not released until 1982.
- Seven Mary Three is referred to accidentally as Sister Mary Three at one point
- I could never be your woman is actually by White Town and not White Houses..
- Keep Feeling Fascination was accidentally referred to as Deep Feeling Fascination
For those of you who are wondering about the David Bowie/Glameow drawing I was referring to, here it is!

Mika and His Oh-So-Magic Numbers
I try to keep my love of him on the down low, so no one has known until this very moment that I subscribe to his newsletter. Today, I got one about a intimate show that he does for his Mika's Magic Numbers winners, with this photo:
Why am I not surprised they are all women? and the majority of them middle-aged?
Did I try out for this competition? No. Why? Because I like to be a rebel, I knew I fit the demographic. That's why, while I was a bit heartbroken to find that Mika was in Newcastle while I was in Dublin, and then in Dublin when I was in Newcastle, I wasn't completely and horribly fucking pissed (though, pissed was a fair description).

Billy False Idol
The Failband household is watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which means endless conversations about Billy Idol. (Because of Spike, of course).

In any case, it reminded me of this picture that Zack drew from ye olde college days, and then I lol fondly.

New Music: Being Nowhere
Being Nowhere by Opal Armor
So Reddit had a music contest: One week to write and record a song with the theme of "Egypt." So we set to work and this is what came out. We used ancient Egyptian and Old Testament allusions to evoke a sense of impending change. Although this could refer to the current unrest in Egypt, the Old Testament references might make that somewhat inappropriate.
